How I Fixed My EZVIZ EB8 4G Camera That Was Offline and Couldn’t Connect to the App

As a security camera technician, I receive different customer complaints almost every day. Currently, a customer is complaining that their EZVIZ EB8 4G camera has suddenly disappeared from the EZVIZ app and cannot be re-added. Because he felt confused, the customer asked me for help to check the customer’s house. According to the information provided, this issue has been occurring for a week. The customer has tried to resolve the issue himself numerous times, but to no avail.

This is a writing of my personal experience in overcoming the problem of the EZVIZ EB8 4G camera not being able to connect to the EZVIZ application.

I Tried to Re-Add the Camera to the EZVIZ App Remotely

Before heading to the location, I tried adding the camera to the EZVIZ app from my office. In most cases, you can re-add an EZVIZ camera to the app after removing it from your account, provided the camera hasn’t been reset.

However, in this experiment, the camera failed to connect with offline information.

Because I felt something was wrong, I had to go to the location to carry out a detailed inspection directly on the camera.

After traveling for 20 minutes, I arrived at the customer’s house.

The customer was waiting for me on his porch when I arrived. After greeting him and shaking his hand, I asked him to explain the issue once more. He told me that the camera had disappeared from the app and that he was unable to add it again.

Diagnostic steps I took to find the cause:

Step 1: Adapter Voltage

The EZVIZ EB8 4G that the customer uses uses voltage from solar panels. Since this camera is battery powered, it relies on a solar panel to recharge the battery during the day so the camera can continue working throughout the night.

Power test results:

  • The output voltage from the solar panel is 5V.
  • I tested the camera by unplugging the solar panel cable, and it still powered on normally.

From these results, there is no problem that occurs with the voltage.

Step 2: Reset the EZVIZ EB8 4G Camera

Before reconnecting to the EZVIZ app, I reset the EB8 4G camera first.

Why am I doing this? It’s to erase any previous settings on the camera and restore it to factory settings. Resetting the camera won’t erase any recordings previously saved on the memory card. Resetting the EZVIZ EB8 4G camera can be done by pressing the button on the bottom of the camera.

Press and hold the button until the camera plays the reset confirmation sound.

Failed to Re-Add Camera to App

After the camera was reset, I tried to re-add the camera to the app, the result was failure.

At first, I was a little confused. Since the camera has been successfully reset, I expected to add it back to the app without any problems. I tried restarting the camera. The first sound I heard indicated the SIM card had successfully connected to the camera. The second sound indicated the camera had failed to connect to the network.

Error message when adding the EZVIZ EB8 4G Camera:

  • Check if 4G SIM card chage is overdue
  • Check if you has disabled SIM PIN
  • Try APN configuration

This led me to suspect that the SIM card had run out of data and needed a data refill.

I Successfully Reconnected the EZVIZ EB8 4G Camera to the EZVIZ App

After I explained that the camera was offline because the SIM card had no remaining data, the customer immediately refilled the data package. After the customer refilled the data package, the camera played a sound indicating that it had successfully connected to the network.

I reconnected the camera to the EZVIZ app and it worked.

So, this issue has been resolved. The reason the camera disappeared from the EZVIZ app is most likely because the customer accidentally deleted it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is my EZVIZ EB8 4G camera offline?

The most common reasons include an expired SIM card data package, weak 4G signal, SIM card problems, or temporary network issues.

No. The EZVIZ EB8 4G uses a mobile SIM card connection. It does not require Wi-Fi to operate.

Can a full reset fix an EZVIZ EB8 4G offline problem?

A reset can help with some software issues, but if the SIM card has no internet data, resetting the camera will not solve the problem.

How often should I check the SIM card data?

It depends on usage. For security cameras running continuously, checking the data balance regularly is recommended.

Conclusion

Initially, a customer’s EZVIZ EB8 4G camera wouldn’t connect to the app, and I thought it was a serious issue. I thought the camera hardware or network module might be faulty. After investigating possible causes, I discovered the actual problem was simply an empty SIM card data plan. By topping up the data plan and restarting the camera, the connection was restored, and the EZVIZ app functioned normally again.

This experience reminded me that 4G security cameras are highly dependent on mobile data availability. Before replacing hardware or performing complex repairs, always check for the simplest causes first, especially the SIM card balance and network status.
