The ORION security camera brand is better known in Australia. Therefore, ORION cameras are more popular in Australia than in other countries. In my opinion, ORION is a local security camera brand in Australia. One example is the Bardi security camera brand. Yes, Bardi is quite popular as a security camera brand marketed in Indonesia, but not in other countries. Live monitoring and playback are done through the app. ORION cameras are available for both indoor and outdoor use.
In this article, I’ll explain how to connect the ORION camera to Wi-Fi and your phone, step by step.
ORION Security Camera, Connects to WiFi and Your Phone, Easy to Install
These days, installing security cameras is getting easier.
In today’s modern era, users no longer need to go to great lengths to install home security cameras. With the advent of WiFi cameras, anyone can install a security camera without needing a technician’s help. Take the ORION security camera, for example: users simply plug it into the nearest electrical outlet and connect it to a WiFi network, and the camera is ready to use.
WiFi cameras like the ORION do not require a monitor; live viewing and playback can be done through the app.
How I Connected My ORION Security Camera to My WiFi Network and Phone
The ORION camera relies on a WiFi network. Therefore, you shouldn’t install the camera too far from the WiFi router. In my experience, a Wi-Fi camera should ideally be installed 10 to 15 meters away from the router. If it’s farther than that, the camera will have trouble connecting to the WiFi.
Steps for connecting the ORION camera to WiFi and your phone.
Step 1: Download the App
You need an app to set up the ORION Wi-Fi camera. The app for the ORION camera is Grid Connect.
You can download the app from the Play Store and the App Store.
Grid Connect isn’t just for the ORION camera app—it can also be used with other ORION products, such as door locks, doorbells, and more.

Step 2: Create an Account in the App
To use the Grid Connect app, you must create an account. And creating an account on the Grid Connect app is easy. If you already have an email address, creating an account on the Grid Connect app takes less than 10 minutes.
Open the app.
Click the “Create New Account” button and click “Agree.”

Select a region.
Enter your email address in the “Email” field.
Click Next.
Enter the verification code that Grid Connect sent to the email address you used to create your account. Below that, create a password that you’ll use to log in to the Grid Connect app.
Click Next.
And you have successfully created an account on the Grid Connect app.
Step 3: Connecting the Camera to Wi-Fi and Your Phone
Now, please turn on your ORION Wi-Fi camera. Some camera models use an adapter and a USB cable. In this guide, I’m using the ORION indoor model, specifically the Orion Grid Connect Smart 2K Pan and Tilt Security Camera. Once the camera is turned on, make sure the indicator LED is flashing rapidly—this means the camera is ready to connect to WiFi network.
I logged in to the ORION app.
To add a new camera to the Grid Connect app, tap Add Device.

Select Security.
Click “Ready to Pair”
Enter the Wi-Fi name and password. Click Next. Oh, by the way, please note that when connecting the camera to Wi-Fi, make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The ORION camera does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Point the QR code displayed on your phone at the front of the camera. If you hear a “Tung Tung Tung” sound, the QR code has connected successfully.
The pairing process will begin. Please wait until it reaches 100 percent.
Enter a name for the camera and click Done. After that, the ORION camera’s live view will appear on your phone.

I’ve Followed the Instructions Above, But the Camera Won’t Connect to WiFi
As I explained above, when connecting the camera to Wi-Fi, make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If your phone is connected to a 5 GHz network, the camera will not connect because the ORION camera does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
My recommendation is that you reset the camera before the pairing process.
Final Thoughts
This guide I’ve written can be used for all ORION camera models that connect to WiFi.
If you’re having trouble connecting the camera to Wi-Fi, check to make sure the Wi-Fi network you’re using is on the 2.4 GHz band. The red indicator light should be flashing. However, a common issue that occurs when the camera fails to connect to Wi-Fi is that the phone is connected to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, and the ORION camera does not support that frequency.
I hope this guide I’ve written will be helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section.
