Adding another user to your Starlink account – If you share your internet connection with family members, employees, or teammates, you might be wondering, can you add other users to your Starlink account? The short answer is yes—Starlink allows you to add other users to your Starlink account and assign them access rights, such as Technical or Admin.
In this guide, you will learn how to add other users to Starlink, add access rights, and how to remove them again.
What Does “Adding Another User” Mean on Starlink?
This may sound new to you, but Starlink has actually updated their account system to support multiple users. This new feature, previously only available to enterprise customers, is now available for consumer accounts. Adding another user can help you manage Starlink when you’re away.
Other users can manage Starlink according to their assigned access rights. For example, Technical access only allows settings like changing the Wi-Fi password.
What is the Maximum Number of Starlink Users?
Starlink limits the number of accounts you can add. Based on our experience using the Residential service, you can only add up to three users, including the original account owner.
Once you reach three users, you can’t add any more until you remove one of them.
Starlink User Permissions
Starlink has a role-based access control system. When you add other users to your account, you can assign them roles to customize their access. For example, users with the Technical and Support roles will be able to view equipment settings and create support tickets, but will not be able to make payments or purchase accessories.
In total, there are 12 roles to choose from, and users with the Admin role can be assigned multiple roles:
- Admin – The Admin role has full permissions for the Starlink account.
- Technical – Technical users have permission to manage service packages and equipment. They can perform tasks such as rebooting, saving devices, configuring IP policies, and so on.
- Technical Configuration – Same as Technical role but limited.
- Technical Read Only – This role only has view access to information and cannot perform equipment settings.
- Billing – The Billing role has access to everything related to your monthly bill, such as making payments, ordering accessories, viewing invoices, canceling services, and more. It cannot perform technical settings.
- Billing Read Only – A version of the Billing role that can only view invoices and orders, but cannot make changes or create orders.
- Support – Users assigned the Support role can open service tickets and manage ticket responses. While every user can view the support FAQ section, only those with Support permissions are allowed to submit or reply to support tickets. In many cases, this role is paired with the Technical role for broader access.
- Support Read Only – The read only version of Support can view past support tickets, but can’t respond to open tickets or create new ones.
- User Management – The User Management role can add and edit users on the Starlink account, and edit the role-based permissions.
- User Management Read Only – Can only view users and roles.
- Device Configuration Assignment – This role allows performing device configuration.
- Service Account Management – This role can manage existing accounts on Starlink.
How to Add Another User to Starlink?
To add a new user to your Starlink account, you’ll need to log in to your account dashboard at Starlink.com. Once logged in, select the Settings menu on the dashboard page.
To add a new contact, tap the “Add User” button.

Fill in the contact information for the new user. Select one or more roles for the new user. Tap “Add User” when you’re finished filling in the information.

After you add a user to your account, Starlink will send an email containing a verification code to the primary email address. Enter the verification code in the field provided. Tap Verify button.

Starlink will also send an email to the newly added account to complete account setup and set a password. New users must set their own password from that email, you cannot do it for them.
Once the password is set, the new user will be redirected directly to the dashboard page.

How to Edit or Remove a User From Starlink?
Editing rules or removing users from your Starlink account is very easy.
As an admin, you can remove a user at any time. Log in to your account dashboard and navigate to the Settings page. In the user list, tap the edit icon or the three dots to open the options to Remove or Edit the user’s contact information and role.

For the Edit process, the only options are to change the rules. Contact information such as name, email, and phone number are not available.
Final thoughts
Starlink’s ability to add additional users creates flexibility in managing your Starlink account. I think the best use for additional users is to add a trusted person or family member to the account so they can control it if the original owner can’t be reached. Another good idea is to add a backup email address that you can access. If one of your accounts gets locked out, you can always access your Starlink account from the backup user profile.
