Some time ago, I tried to install the SADP Tool on my Windows 11 computer. However, the installation failed due to an error message. After further research, I discovered that the SADP Tool is no longer updated and has been replaced by another software with similar functionality, HiTools Delivery. So, if you’re looking to configure Hikvision devices, consider switching to HiTools Delivery.

This guide explains how to change the device IP address, update the administrator password, and reset a device password using HiTools Delivery

What Is HiTools Delivery?

HiTools Delivery is a device management utility designed by Hikvision to simplify the configuration and maintenance of supported network devices. The application allows users to discover devices on the local network, modify network parameters, update security settings, and perform basic maintenance tasks from a single interface.

HiTools Delivery provides a centralized solution that helps installers, IT administrators, and security professionals complete deployment tasks more efficiently.

Depending on the device model and firmware version, the software may support features such as:

• Device discovery on the local network
• IP address configuration
• Device activation
• Password management
• Device information display
• Firmware maintenance
• Network parameter configuration

Because software features may vary between product generations, always verify that your device firmware and HiTools Delivery version are compatible.

How to Use HiTools Delivery on Windows 11

Since I am using Windows 11, this guide will cover how to use HiTools on Windows 11. I will try to use it to change the IP address, password and reset the password of Hikvision devices such as DVR, NVR and IP cameras.

1. Add Device

HiTools Delivery supports adding NVRs, DVRs, IP cameras, and access control devices. Once added, you can verify that each device has been successfully configured through the software.

Open HiTools Delivery.

To add a device, please click the Search button to search for Hikvision devices connected to the same network.

Mark the detected devices and click the Add to Device List button.

Enter the device password. Click OK button.

If successful, a success message like the one below will appear. The device will appear on the Device Management page.

2. Changing IP Address

In this guide, I’m using a DVR as an experiment. However, you can use this method to change the IP address of your NVR and IP cameras.

Click the Search button on the Home Page.

Mark the device whose IP address you want to change. Uncheck Enable DHCP. Change the IP address as needed. Once the IP address is changed, scroll down a bit, enter the device password, and click the Edit button.

If successful, the device’s IP address will change.

By changing the IP address automatically you have set the DHCP IP address to Static.

3. Reset Password

If you’re already familiar with the SADP Tool, you shouldn’t have any trouble using HiTools Delivery. Just like with SADP Tool, you can also reset your device’s password using HiTools Delivery.

Check the boxes next to the devices whose passwords you want to reset. Then click the Reset Password button.

There are four password reset methods available:

• Import/Export Key
• Security Question
• Reserved Email
• Import GUID

In this guide, I’ll use the first method, Import/Export Key. I consider this the easiest method.

In the password reset window, select Reset Methods > Import/Export Key. Then, click Generate QR. Once the QR code appears on the screen, open your Hik-Partner Pro app to scan it. You must have a Hik-Partner Pro account to use the password reset menu.

Once the QR code is scanned, you will get a security code.

Enter the security code in the field provided and create a new password for your device. Finally, click OK.

4. Unbind Device

The process for unpairing a device is almost the same as resetting a device password. Only here, we don’t enter a password and instead only need the QR code displayed on the screen. I previously tried using the unbind feature in HiTools Delivery, but it didn’t work. You’ll need a Hik-Partner Pro account to do this.

Click the Search button on the Home Page of HiTools Delivery software. Check the boxes next to the devices you want to unbind. Then click Reset Password.

Click the Generate QR Code button.

Open the Hik-Partner Pro app on your phone. Then, select the “Request Unbind” menu and scan the QR code displayed on the screen. Your Hik-Partner Pro account must be verified to use the “Request Unbind Device” feature.

Can HiTools Delivery be used on Mac?

No.

Hikvision only provides HiTools Delivery for Windows computers. Mac users can use the SADP Tool. I’m currently using the SADP Tool on my Mac.

Yes

HiTools Delivery is free forever. This software is part of Hikvision’s services as a security camera manufacturer. In addition to providing products, Hikvision also provides various tools to simplify device management for technicians and users.
