11 Best Fisheye Security Cameras for Home and Commercial Use — Just Install One Camera to Get a 360-Degree View

Best Fisheye Security Cameras

If you install a traditional fixed camera in a large room, there will usually be some areas that the camera can’t see. The corners of the room, especially the area directly underneath the camera, may be out of view. Rooms with partial walls or partitions can also create blind spots. If you want to monitor the entire room without leaving any blind spots, you can consider using a security camera with a fisheye lens. These cameras are designed to provide a much wider field of view, allowing you to cover a large area with a single camera.

In this article, I’ll share a list of the best fisheye camera brands you can consider for monitoring your entire room and covering those hard-to-see corners.

What Is a Fisheye Security Camera?

One of the advantages of being a security camera technician is that I get to try out different types of security cameras. One of them is the fisheye security camera.

This is one type of security camera that I find particularly unique.

With just one fisheye camera installed in a room, I can cover almost the entire area. The camera provides a wide, panoramic view that extends all the way to the edges of the room. I usually install a fisheye camera in the center of the room to get the best coverage. There’s no special installation process either—the installation is basically the same as with a regular security camera.

Example of Fisheye Camera Footage

If you were using a regular security camera, the areas on the far left and right might not be visible. Let me change the comparison to show what it would look like with a standard camera. This is what the view would look like.

The red box shows an example of the area that can be covered by a standard security camera.

What allows a fisheye camera to capture such a wide view is its ultra-wide-angle lens, which can provide a field of view (FOV) ranging from 180° to 360°. In comparison, a typical security camera usually has a horizontal FOV of around 105°, a vertical FOV of 55°, and a diagonal FOV of 125°.

Fisheye Cameras Under $50 for Those Who Want to Try One

I’ve tried fisheye cameras at different price points, from the most expensive to the most affordable, and there are noticeable differences between them. More expensive fisheye cameras generally produce clearer and more detailed video.

It’s a Chinese security camera manufacturer that manages to offer advanced features at really affordable prices. No wonder V380 Pro has become a popular choice for security cameras around my area—it’s affordable without feeling like you’re sacrificing too much in terms of features.

Conclusion

A fisheye camera can capture a 360-degree panoramic view, giving you a complete picture of the surrounding area.

With this camera installed, you can keep an eye on the entire room from a single spot. In a way, one fisheye camera can do the job of up to four regular cameras. Most fisheye cameras also come with a Multi-View feature, which lets you adjust how the footage is displayed on your monitor or smartphone. This is especially useful with fisheye cameras that support mobile viewing, such as EZVIZ and V380 Pro models.
