TP-Link, through its VIGI brand, offers VIGI IP cameras and other equipment such as NVRs. I just purchased a TP-Link VIGI NVR. Before the NVR can be used to connect the cameras to a monitor, the newly purchased NVR must first be set up. This setup is similar to that of most NVRs, including creating a password, configuring the network, setting the date and time, and other general settings.
To set up the VIGI NVR for the first time, I used a monitor to make the process easier. This is a guide I wrote to explain how to set up the VIGI NVR for the first time after purchasing it and before using it.

According to the product page, the TP-Link VIGI NVR is available in five channel configurations, ranging from a minimum of 4 channels to a maximum of 64 channels. In addition to these channel options, some NVR models support cameras with a resolution of 16 megapixels. These NVRs also support ONVIF, which means you can connect cameras from other brands to them.
Please Follow the Steps I Took to Set Up the VIGI NVR from Scratch
Generally speaking, configuring a VIGI NVR is referred to as “initialization.” Although the terms differ, I still refer to it as “initial setup” because some users have asked me about configuring a VIGI NVR rather than initializing it.
Follow my steps below carefully.
Connect the NVR to the power supply. Ensure it is properly powered on, as indicated by the indicator lights on the front of the NVR.
Connecting the mouse to the NVR.
Connect the LAN cable and HDMI cable to the NVR.
Adjust the country, language, and power line frequency. For example, we’ll select Indonesia as the country, English as the language, and 50Hz as the power line frequency. Then tap the Next button.
Enter the new password, email and VIGI camera password and tap the Complete button.

Tap the Set Gesture Password button to create a pattern lock. Draw the pattern lines as desired.

Then tap the Manually Initialize button.
Select a resolution. Tap Next.
Internet Connection settings. Just tap Next.
Time Settings. Check NTP Settings and select the country that corresponds to your current one. Tap Next. Alternatively, you can set it manually.
In the Add Camera section, tap Next. This is because no VIGI cameras are connected to the NVR yet.
Initialize Hard Disk. Check the box. Tap the Initialize button. Then confirm by tapping the Initialize button. When the initialization process is complete, click the Next button.
The hard drive initialization was successful.
In the Recording Settings section, tap the Next button. You can adjust this later.
Finally, in the Complete section, immediately tap the Complete button.
