How to unbind EZVIZ NVR from your account – I’m writing this guide after recently successfully remotely unbinding an EZVIZ NVR. A user contacted me because they couldn’t add their NVR to a new EZVIZ account. After checking the device’s status, I discovered that another account had linked the NVR as the primary account. As a professional security camera technician, I’ll help them no matter where they contact me.
In this guide, I will completely disassemble the steps to untie the EZVIZ NVR device from scratch.
Why You Need to Unbind Your EZVIZ NVR from an Account?
You may receive a message that EZVIZ devices (cameras and DVRs) cannot be added to a new account.
This indicates that another account has linked your cameras and NVR as the primary account. To add them to a new account, you’ll need to unlink them from the previous account. An example error message may appear, showing that another account has already connected the devices.
You may need to unbind your EZVIZ NVR if:
- You forgot the email address or password of the original account
- You purchased a second-hand NVR
- You created a new EZVIZ account
- The previous owner no longer uses the device
- The NVR displays a message indicating that another account has already registered the device.
How to Unbind an EZVIZ NVR? To Add It to a New EZVIZ Account
The device I will be unbinding in this guide is the EZVIZ NVR X5S.
The steps for unbinding an EZVIZ NVR are similar to those for unbinding an EZVIZ camera. You don’t need special software like the SADP Tool used to unbind Hikvision devices or the ConfigTool used to unbind Dahua devices. All you need is the EZVIZ app on your phone.
The first step, please open the EZVIZ application on your cellphone.
When unbinding remotely, ask the device owner to send a photo of the device label, which contains the QR code
Once the EZVIZ app is open, click the + sign and select Scan QR Code.

I scanned the QR code from the gallery.

EZVIZ NVR QR Code.

Later, the system displays the device information, including the device name and the account it is connected to. Click Apply for Unbinding.

Make sure the NVR has been offline for 5 minutes. Put a tick on “The device has been offline for 5 minutes”. Click the Next Step button.

Next, scan the QR code on the device label again and click the Submit button to request unbinding. You cannot use a QR code image stored in your phone’s gallery. Instead, display the QR code photo on another device, such as a PC, laptop, or another mobile phone, and then scan it using your EZVIZ app.

Scan EZVIZ NVR QR Code.

Click the Submit button if the QR code is successfully scanned.

Click I Confirmed.

The process doesn’t take long; once you click the Submit button, the system will automatically process the unbinding of the EZVIZ NVR. If the device is successfully unbinded, a window will appear that says “Unbinding Successful.”

Will Unbind Delete Recordings Stored on the EZVIZ NVR?
The answer is no. In my experience, unbinding the device does not result in the loss of stored recordings.
The process of deleting recordings stored on a DVR or other recording device is called formatting the storage device. Unbinding is different because it only removes the connection between the device and the old account. As a result, unbinding does not affect the recordings or storage data in any way.
“Apply for Unbinding” Not Appearing?
The device cannot be unbinded directly using the app.
If this issue occurs to you, please contact EZVIZ technical support in your country. They will help you unbind your EZVIZ device from your old account.
Is Unbind the Same as Resetting the EZVIZ NVR Password?
No.
Unbind removes the EZVIZ NVR from your account. The password is the credentials used to unlock the NVR. You can reset the EZVIZ NVR password by pressing the reset button on the NVR.
Final Thoughts
Unbinding an EZVIZ NVR is often necessary when transferring ownership, creating a new account, or restoring access to a device connected to an old account. The process is generally quick and easy, especially if you have access to the device’s label and QR code. No special apps or tools are required, unbinding an EZVIZ NVR or other EZVIZ device can be done using the EZVIZ app on your phone.
I hope this guide has helped you successfully unbind your EZVIZ NVR. If you have any questions or run into any issues during the process, feel free to leave a comment below, and I’ll be happy to help you.
