Here’s How I Share My Imou Camera to Someone Else’s Phone for Shared Access

Can a single Imou camera be connected to multiple phones? The answer is yes. You can connect an Imou camera to another phone using the camera-sharing feature in the Imou app. Actually, you could use the same account to log in to the app, but this method isn’t efficient. If you log out of the app, the account on the other device will usually log out as well. So, the most recommended method is to use camera sharing.

In this article, I’ll explain how to share an Imou camera with another phone so that you can view the camera feed together, but each using your own phone.

Share Your Camera with Your Phone or Someone You Know

Anda bisa berbagi kamera kepada keluarga atau teman.

Make sure you share your camera feed only with people you know. Our best recommendation is to share only camera feeds from public areas, such as your porch or backyard. Avoid sharing camera feeds from areas that require privacy, such as your children’s rooms, your own bedroom, and other interior areas of your home.

The reason is to protect yourself from unwanted actions.

Things to Prepare Before Sharing Your Imou Camera with Someone Else

Sebelum membagikan perangkat kamera ke ponsel orang lain, ada beberapa hal yang perlu Anda persiapkan.

Firstly, the Imou app must already be installed on the other person’s mobile phone. They must also have created an account. This is because camera sharing can only be done from the Imou app to another Imou app. It is not possible to use an app from another camera brand or an account from another camera app.

How to Share an Imou Camera with Another User

The first time I shared a camera with someone else, I wasn’t sure which menu option to select in the Imou Life app. But after doing it several times, I found that sharing a camera with another mobile phone can be done in a matter of minutes.

You can follow the guide below, which I’ve written based on my own experience.

Open the Imou Life app.

Log in using your registered account. If you’re already logged in, opening the app will take you directly to the Imou Life dashboard.

Tap the colon on the camera.

Tap Share Device.

On the Share Device page, tap the “+” button.

Enter the email address of the other account that will receive the device. Then tap the Next button.

You’ll then be redirected to the Select Permissions page. Select one of the device recipient’s access permissions. There are three access permissions: View Only, View and Manage, and Custom.

  • View Only: Pother users can only see the live view.
  • View and Manage: Other users can see the live view, playback and make other settings on the camera.
  • Custom: Fill in as needed.

In this manual, we’ll select View and Manage so the receiving device can also play video. Check the Share video password box to prevent other users from having to enter a password when opening the CCTV camera.

Once selected, tap the Next button.

Set the required duration for how long the recipient device can access the shared Imou CCTV camera. To ensure permanent access, select Share Indefinitely.

If you have tapped the Done button, the account list will increase on the Share Device page.

Next, refresh the Imou Life app for the user who received the device. A message will appear in the app that says “Invited you to share CCTV.”

Tap the Accept button.
