EasyViewr Pro is an alternative app for Dahua camera devices. I also don’t know why Dahua devices can be connected to third-party apps. Doesn’t Dahua care about its users’ privacy? This is very different from Hikvision. As far as I know, Hikvision devices can only be connected to a phone using the Hik-Connect app. This means Hikvision camera devices cannot be connected to third-party apps.

Why does Dahua allow its cameras to be connected to third-party devices?
When I use this app, I can easily connect to Dahua cameras without having to log in to the app. All I need is the Dahua device’s serial number and password. Amazingly, the app can immediately display the cameras without requiring the owner’s permission. Logically, the EasyViewer app must be able to access Dahua’s servers. Is that authorized by Dahua? I don’t know the answer to that either.
How to Install the EasyViewer Pro App on a PC?
EasyViewer Pro isn’t actually available for Windows PCs or Macs. But don’t worry—you can still use it with the help of an emulator. An emulator lets you run Android apps on your PC or Mac.
So, before you install EasyViewer Pro, you’ll need to install an emulator first.
Download an Android Emulator on a Mac
The emulator I’m using is BlueStaks 4.270.1.2803.
To get this version of BlueStacks (4.270.1.2803), I downloaded it from the Uptodown website because the installation file for this version is no longer available on the official BlueStacks website. I’m using an older version of BlueStacks because my Mac isn’t supported by the newer versions. The Uptodown website also offers various versions of BlueStacks.
The file size is quite large—about 982 MB in .pkg format. So, just wait until the download is complete.
I had previously tried installing the Nox Player emulator, the latest version of BlueStacks, and Mumu Player. However, I was unable to install any of them on my Mac. For example, when I tried to install Mumu Player, a window like this appeared, indicating that the emulator couldn’t be installed on my Mac.
The latest version of the Android emulator doesn’t seem to support Intel-based Macs. It only supports Macs with Apple’s M-series chips.
Install BlueStaks Android Emulator on Mac
As I write this guide, I’m using a 2012 MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey. Actually, my Mac doesn’t support macOS Monterey, but with the help of OpenCore Legacy Patcher, I was able to install macOS Monterey on my 2012 MacBook Pro.
Now, let’s start the BlueStaks 4 installation.
I’ll double-click the BlueStaks installation file I downloaded earlier. BlueStaks requires macOS 11 or later to install. BlueStacks 4 still runs on Intel-based Macs, but the version of Android used is 7.1.2, also known as Android Nougat.
The installation process will then begin. Please wait until it is complete.
Install EasyViewer Pro on Your PC Using the BlueStacks Android Emulator
Now it’s time to install the EasyViewer Pro app on the emulator.
Of course, I opened BlueStacks as an emulator that I can install on my Mac, even though it’s an older version. And here’s a screenshot of BlueStacks, which I successfully installed on my Mac.
On this home screen, I chose to open the Play Store.
In the search bar, type “EasyViewr Pro.” Install the app on an Android emulator just as you would on a phone.
I then clicked the install button.
The EasyViewer Pro installation is complete. Next, configure the app. Click the “Open” button.
Select a country or region. Click Done.
Check the box next to “I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy.”
And here’s what the EasyViewer app looks like when installed on an Android emulator. See? It looks just like it does when opened on a phone, doesn’t it? Next, you can add Dahua devices such as XVR/DVRs and NVRs.
How to Add Dahua DVRs and NVRs to the EasyViewr Pro App on a Mac
You don’t need to create an account or log in to the EasyViewer Pro app to add a Dahua NVR or DVR. All you need is the device’s serial number and password. I’ll try one of the serial numbers from a Dahua DVR that I found online.
I open the EasyViewer Pro app.
Click the + button.
Select SN/Scan.
On the “Scan QR Code” page, I selected “Manually Enter SN” because what I had was the DVR’s serial number.
I entered the serial number.
On the Add Device page, I selected XVR/DVR.
I entered the device name and the DVR password. Fortunately, I was able to guess the password based on the DVR’s serial number, which I found online. And here’s the result. I was able to get a live feed from the camera connected to this DVR.
