Imou notifications are a built-in camera feature that sends notifications to your phone whenever the camera detects motion in front of it. You’ll see a notification on your phone that looks like an incoming WhatsApp message. You can tap the notification to be taken directly to the Imou app. By default, the EZVIZ camera’s notification feature is turned off, so you’ll need to enable it manually.
The notification feature is available on all Imou camera models. In this article, I’ll explain how to enable notifications on your Imou camera.
Is It Important to Enable the Notification Feature on the Imou Camera?
Whether it’s important or not depends on your needs.
Once enabled, notifications will continue to be sent to your phone whenever the camera detects movement in front of it. In my tests, the Imou camera sent notifications whenever people, vehicles, and animals (cats, dogs, and birds) passed in front of it. Notification errors sometimes occur; the camera continues to send notifications when it detects moving leaves.
It is not recommended to enable this feature in overly crowded places. This is because notifications will keep coming in on your phone and be disruptive.
How to Enable the Notification Feature on the Imou Camera?
To enable Imou camera notifications, you can do so from the camera settings in the app. Follow the steps I’ve outlined below as a guide.
Open the Imou Life app.
Log in to the app using your registered account. You’ll then be redirected to the dashboard page.
Tap the colon on the camera.

Select Notification Settings.

Tap Notifications to enable it. Also, tap Push Notifications with Thumbnails to have notifications instantly display images.

Notification push is now active. To test, you can walk in front of the camera. If the feature is working, the camera will send a notification to the Imou Life app, which you can click to view. For the feature to work optimally, you must insert a memory card into the camera. The push notification feature is very useful if you want to know more quickly about movements that occur in front of the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

A built-in feature of the Imou camera that sends notifications to your phone when the camera detects motion.
Is This Feature Free?
Yes, since it’s a built-in camera feature, the Push Notification feature can be used anytime and is free.
Should the Push Notification Feature Always Be Enabled?
It’s not necessary and depends on your scenario.
How Do I Enable Push Notifications for the Imou Camera?

Conclusion
For me, this notification feature isn’t really worth enabling, because some Imou camera models incorrectly detect motion. For example, I installed the camera at home, then turned on my fan. What happened? The Imou camera sent a notification to my phone, even though I only wanted the camera to send notifications if there were animals, people, or vehicles. It’s not that the feature is bad, but it should only be enabled in specific locations to reduce false alerts.
