Why Should Imou Camera Firmware Be Upgrade?
As a CCTV camera technician, I never recommend to customers to regularly upgrade firmware.
I, as an Imou camera user, have never upgrade the firmware. As long as the camera is still working properly, I don’t need to upgrade the firmware. Unless the camera experiences issues like difficulty connecting to Wi-Fi, slow camera launch, or playback issues, I’ll update the firmware.
So whether or not the firmware needs to be upgrade depends on the need.
How I Upgrade My Imou Camera Firmware Directly From The App?
Warning: Imou camera firmware is not available for manual download. Firmware can only be downloaded and upgraded directly through the Imou Life app via OTA (Over-The-Air) which is available in the camera settings. Imou CCTV cameras whose firmware has been upgraded cannot be downgraded.
Before the upgrade process is carried out, make sure your WiFi network is in good condition so that the process does not fail.
Open the Imou Life app.
Log in using your registered account. If you’re already logged in, opening the app will take you directly to the Imou Life dashboard.
Tap the colon on the camera.
Pilih Device Details.
Tap on the camera name.
The Device Settings page will then appear. Tap Firmware to check if the latest firmware is available.
If the latest firmware is available, a page like the one below will appear. Tap the Update button to start the upgrade.
Then a notification will appear “the update may take several minutes. Please do not power off your device or disconnect the network during the updating process”.
Just tap the Start Upgrade button and wait for it to complete.
