Before buying a security camera, make sure you understand its technical specifications.
This is especially important if you’re planning to use cameras from different brands and want to display all their video feeds on a single monitor through an NVR or DVR. In that case, you need to make sure the cameras you buy are compatible with third-party devices and software. Ideally, they should support integration with different brands of NVRs or security camera software, rather than working only with their own dedicated app.
In this article, I’ll explain whether AOSU cameras support ONVIF and RTSP.
Getting to Know AOSU Security Cameras, Their Categories, and Features
AOSU is a security camera brand that sells its products through its official website, aosulife.com . On its official website, AOSU organizes its security cameras into several main categories:
- Indoor Cameras
- Outdoor Cameras
- Video Doorbells
- Wireless Security Cameras
Outdoor Cameras: AOSU offers a wide range of outdoor security cameras, including wireless and solar-powered models. Enjoy high-quality video in 2K, 5MP, or 4K resolution, along with full-color night vision—all without a monthly subscription.
Indoor Cameras: AOSU indoor security cameras deliver crystal-clear 2K or 4MP QHD video, 360-degree coverage, and dual-band WiFi connectivity. With smart motion tracking and night vision, they help you keep an eye on your home, even in low-light conditions.
Video Doorbells: AOSU video doorbells offer 2K and 5MP Ultra HD video quality, along with color night vision, two-way audio, and local storage. They also integrate seamlessly with Alexa and Google Assistant for added convenience.
Wireless Security Cameras: AOSU wireless security cameras feature color night vision, allowing you to capture clearer, full-color footage even at night. They also come with built-in storage and support smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, making it easy to integrate them into your smart home setup.
Basically, all AOSU cameras are WiFi cameras.
The camera connects directly to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and doesn’t support the 5 GHz band. So, when setting up your AOSU camera using your phone, make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. If your phone is connected to a 5 GHz network instead, the camera may not be able to connect properly during setup.

Do AOSU Cameras Support ONVIF and RTSP for NVR Integration?
For a security camera to work with devices from different brands, it generally needs to support a standard called ONVIF. It should also provide an RTSP URL, which allows other applications or devices to access and display the camera’s video stream.
Without either of these, connecting a security camera to devices from different brands can be difficult or even impossible.
So, AOSU cameras do not support ONVIF or RTSP.
In a community post published on January 28, 2026, the AOSU technical team explained that all battery-powered AOSU cameras, including the T2 Series, do not support ONVIF, RTSP, or NAS/NVR integration. Our system is designed as a closed security ecosystem, with a focus on:
- Ultra-Low Power Consumption: Standard protocols like ONVIF can keep the camera active, which would quickly drain its battery.
- End-to-End Security: To protect your privacy, video streams are encrypted and can only be accessed through the encrypted AOSU app or your local AOSU Base.
AOSU cameras aren’t the best choice if you plan to connect them to third-party devices or software, such as NVRs, DVRs, or other security camera applications. This is because they don’t support ONVIF or RTSP.
What App Do AOSU Security Cameras Use?
AOSU offers an app for both Android and iOS devices.
With the AOSU app, you can connect and manage your AOSU products in one place, including security cameras and video doorbells.
How to Download the AOSU App:
Android
- Open the Google Play Store
- Type AOSU in the search bar
- Tap Install
Compatibility:
- Android 8.0 or later
iOS
- Open the App Store
- Type AOSU in the search bar
- Tap Get
Compatibility:
- iPhone: Requires iOS 15.1 or later
- iPod Touch: Requires iOS 15.1 or later
- Mac: Requires MacOS 12.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later
Can You Install the AOSU App on a PC?
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it. AOSU doesn’t provide a dedicated desktop app for PCs, and I couldn’t find an AOSU app that I could install on my Mac either.
Conclusion
Planning to buy a camera to connect to your NVR? Hold on a second! AOSU cameras don’t support ONVIF or RTSP, so they may not be the right choice for your setup.
AOSU is a WiFi security camera designed for home users, featuring Smart 360° Coverage & Tracking and two-way audio. It connects directly to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and pairs with your phone through the AOSU app, allowing you to monitor your home remotely. No monthly subscription is required, as video recordings can be stored locally on a memory card with a capacity of up to 128 GB.
Currently, AOSU cameras are sold in markets such as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. I tried to purchase one from Indonesia, but unfortunately, the product wasn’t available for delivery to my region.
