I’ve come across another piece of security camera software called Shinobi.
Shinobi is an open-source, free-to-use NVR and VMS that you can host on your own server. It allows you to connect security cameras from different brands, provided they support RTSP. Cameras that don’t support at least RTSP cannot be connected to Shinobi. All right, I’ve put together a complete guide below showing you how to install and configure Shinobi on Ubuntu. The instructions are based on my own hands-on installation and testing experience.
If you run into any problems or have questions while following this guide, feel free to drop a comment below. I’ll do my best to help!
