How to use iVMS-4200 on PC Windows – Managing security cameras from your computer is much easier if you use the right monitoring software. One of the most popular applications is iVMS-4200. You can install this software directly on Windows and macOS. Users can monitor cameras live, play recordings, manage devices, and access the security system remotely from a PC or laptop.
In the guide I wrote, I will explain in full how to use the iVMS-4200 device on a Windows PC based on direct experiments.
iVMS-4200 Menu Overview
The iVMS-4200 on Windows has more menus than the iVMS-4200 on Mac OS. On the dashboard, there are two menu sections: those with icons and those without. The icon-based menu has three sections: Video Application, Access Control, and General Application.

How to Use the Menu on the iVMS-4200 on a PC Windows & Mac?
For new users, you must be looking for information on how to use this software.
In this guide, I’ll explain how to use the iVMS-4200 on a PC in detail. While the iVMS-4200 has a variety of menus, only a few are commonly used to manage security camera devices. These menus include Live View, Playback, and Video Download.
Add Device
You can use iVMS-4200 software to connect Hikvision brand IP cameras, NVR and DVR in one place. There are several methods for adding devices, in this guide I use the Online Device method, which is to detect devices connected to one network.
Click Device Management.
Online Device. The software will then display the devices on the same network. Mark them and click the Add button.
In this section, enter the device’s Name, Username, and Password. Ignore the other fields. Click the Add button.
If the status is Online, then the device was successfully added to iVMS-4200.
Live View on iVMS-4200
To live view Hikvision cameras from iVMS-4200, you can open the Main View menu. You can set the number of windows according to the number of connected cameras, from 1 to 64.
Click Main View.
Click the Live button on the device name.
Then a live view from the camera will appear according to the number of connected cameras.
Playback Video
To play back CCTV cameras in the iVMS-4200 software, you can use the Remote Playback menu. Users can select the cameras to be played back, along with a customizable date and time.
Click Remote Playback.
Click the play button to start playing.
Click the Play button on the camera name. A playback of all cameras will appear. You can also specify the date and time.
Backup or Download Videos in iVMS-4200
You can download recorded videos saved from your DVR/NVR to your iVMS-4200. To download videos from your iVMS-4200, open the Remote Playback menu. The downloaded videos will automatically be saved to your computer.
On the Playback page, click the scissors icon (Clip).
You can adjust the download time by dragging the red box on the time bar. Once you’re satisfied, click the Download button.
Then the download process will run, you can see the status by clicking the download icon at the top.
How to Watch Downloaded Videos?
The videos you have downloaded from iVMS-4200 will be stored permanently on your computer and can be played.
Click View More.
On the Video Download Center page, select the Finish tab. Select Open Folder.
Next, you’ll be redirected to the folder where the downloaded video is stored. Double-click the video file to play it.

The iVMS-4200 provides menus for managing Hikvision CCTV systems from a computer. This software allows users to monitor cameras live, review recordings, manage devices, and remotely access the surveillance system.
