How to activate a Starlink KIT from scratch – If you purchased Starlink from a third party such as an online store or local dealer, follow these simple steps to activate your equipment and start service. To use a Starlink device purchased from an authorized retailer, you need to activate it. The process is quite simple, but there are a few things to note. We created this guide based on our experience after activating Starlink hundreds of times.

What You Need Before Activating Starlink Using GoPay?
Most tutorials only explain how to pay with international credit cards, but Starlink now provides payments using local digital wallets such as GoPay. Before starting, make sure you have:
- A Starlink KIT (Gen 3 or Starlink Mini)
- The Starlink app installed on your phone and a GoPay account with sufficient balance
- Identity (KTP/SIM) and mobile phone number
Step by Step Instructions For Starlink Activation
1. Unboxing the Starlink Kit
I purchased a Starlink Gen 3 V4 and inside the package, I found:
- Starlink dish
- Wi-Fi router (Starlink Mini does not have a separate router)
- Power cable
- Dish cable
- Base stand
Hardware installation only takes about 10 minutes. I place the satellite dish outdoors in an open area with no trees or buildings blocking the sky. Avoid placing the dish near a metal roof or high wall to avoid obstructions, as signal obstruction can reduce performance.
2. Installing the Starlink App
I downloaded the Starlink app.
I used the Starlink app after completing account activation and registration. It’s important to understand that Starlink activation and account creation are both part of the process, so there’s no separate account creation process.
The Starlink app can be downloaded and installed via the Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS).
3. Activation Starlink Using GoPay
The first thing you need to do is find your Starlink identifier. There’s a label printed on the Starlink box that says “KIT.” This is the serial number of the satellite dish. I recommend taking a photo of the KIT number. You’ll need it for the next step. Don’t have the box? You can also find the Terminal ID number, or serial number, printed on your Starlink satellite dish.
Step 1 – Visit the Starlink activation page https://www.starlink.com/activate
Step 2 – Enter the KIT number and select New Account.
Step 3 – Specify location. Tap the target icon to detect the location automatically.
Step 4 – Select a Starlink service package (Residential Lite/Residential/Roam) that best suits your needs and budget. Then, tap the Continue to Checkout button.
Step 5 – Tap Checkout.
Step 6 – Fill in the requested information: email address, name, phone number, address, and payment method (we use GoPay). Tap the Place Order button to proceed.
Step 7 – Enter your GoPay account number and click Link and Pay.
Step 8 – Click Connect.
Step 9 – Enter the GoPay OTP code sent to WhatsApp.
Step 10 – GoPay PIN.
Step 11 – Click Pay.
After that, a “Payment Successful” notification will appear. To complete account registration, click the “Create Password” button sent by Starlink to the registered email address.
4. Setting Up Starlink in The App
After activating and creating an account, the next step is to set up Starlink through the app. Typically, all we do in the app is find the correct orientation for the satellite dish, so there’s nothing too technical.
Connect your phone to the internet network with the Starlink SSID name without a password.
The initial Starlink device process, such as calculating orientation and downloading software, will then be displayed. Everything runs automatically. Simply wait for the Starlink status to return to “Online.”
