I first came across CamWatch in a Reddit post, which made me curious enough to give it a try.

Yes, there are developers who have created virtual video recorders, commonly known as self-hosted NVR or VMS software. Since I had some free time on the evening of October 30, 2026, I decided to try installing and using CamWatch on my Ubuntu Desktop PC. It took me around 40 minutes to get everything installed and running. I spent most of that time going through the documentation provided by the developer to understand the installation process and how the software works.
